I downloaded DirectX 9, which is the version the manual says to download. Every time i go to open it, it says it can't find DirectX 9 and it sent an error to debug.log. I run Windows XP on a dell inspiron 1200 laptop. Ive tried all the uninstalling/reinstalling/restarting garbage & It's not cutting it. What's wrong with it?

If you have Service pac 2 for XP ( Check in "Add / remove programs, in Windows control panel)
You have it already installed. Or type dxdiag in "Run" and check out the direct X version.

Or if you can't fix this?
Do a repair installation of Windows XP. But uninstall your videocard driver first, if it is'nt "WHQL certified". This is also done in Add / remove programs. This to avoid trouble, during the repair. The "WHQL certification" you also can check out, by typing dxdiag in "Run".
