Most of my system tray icons will suddenly not load anymore upon logon or reboot. I have done virus scans and everything but have found nothing. Here are the icons that do and don't load.
Icons that do load:
Synaptics pointing device icon
Trillian messenging icon
Icons that don't load:
Wireless network icon
LAN icon
Volume control icon
Power meter icon
Windows NT phone dialer icon
USB monitor icon
McAfee Security Center icon

You should be able to get things back, presuming there is no other problems.
With the networking icons, you need to go to Network Connection in control panel & right click on the relevant icon & go to properties from the drop down list & make sure there is a tick in the box marked 'show icon in notification area when connected.
You should then see the icons for the networking when you are connected.
Also in control panel go to the sounds & audio devices & make sure you have tick in the box marked 'place volume icon in the taskbar'
Same sort of thing for everything else in the relevant section in control panel.
Why they disappeared in the first place is a bit strange though.
Give the above a try & report back.

This did not work, however I used system restore and that fixed it. I had googled around, and there were really no answers, so to all who have system tray icons that won't load, use the system restore.
