Tiger Woods PGA tour 2005 invalid cd key

having aproblem with tigerwoods cd key--help !!!!!!!!!!!!
when my buddy tries to register his name with tigerwoods it says the cd key is invalid.....
iv'e tried it myself and also tried it on my computer --then I got really mad and called ea sports..whoopie big help there all they could say was the key was good.it had not been used or registered......so whats the problem.iv'e already run a directx test and logged into his game with my username ( and that worked ) so I know there's no connection problem
please can someone help so we can play each other online..

Interesting,because the same thing happened to me on same game.Found cd key on back of case would not work,but found another key on back of "install guide"booklet and it worked.

far as I know his only had the key on the books .. it was one of those walmart specials were you only get the cd's in a case and you don't get the box..
