Unable to reset background

It would be greatly appreciated if someone could help out with this troublesome and annoying problem.

I have recently detected (& deleted) Spyware on 1 of our Pc's. Same old notification on the backgrond - "Spyware has been detected on your computer, click here to remove it." Symantec has successfully removed it and after numerous full system scans still comes up clean.

The problem is... the HTML background is still there. I ended up locating the path and from there deleted the file. So now the warning is gone, but has been replaced by a blank, white html page. I've also gone searching for it in the registery - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Currentversion\Policies\System. The thing is \Polocies doesn't exist. No added DWORD's or anything forgein.

The same with the \Desktop path. Could it be possible that the spyware keeps changing the registry path? Keeping in mind that Symatec (updated of course) comes up clean each and every time.

Has anyone ever had the same problem or have any suggestions?

Thanks
Charlie

Symantec's scanner (I presume you're talking about the virus scanner) only catches a few pieces of spyware. Get Spybot S&D and/or Ad-Aware to clean up the rest.

Also take a look at this thread for some possible solutions if the above doesn't work.
