hi i have a problem with a debugger called winice/softice and when i try open a certain program it says "windows NT users: please note that having the winice/softice service installed means that you r running a debugger" please close it down and restart. can sum1 help me close it down i dunno where it is located or what it is thx

The default key to bring it up is Ctrl-D (I think, it's been a few years...). Press that, then try some commands like 'unload' or 'exit', or maybe even 'help'. Or better yet (if this is your PC), uninstall it completely. If you don't know what it is, I can guarantee you'll never use it anyway.

thx outlaw but nothing came up when i pressed that what do u press to uninstall it? i can't find it anywhere help me again thx

Go to the Software section of your Windows Control Panel. Simply find it in the list and press the Uninstall button.

theres nothin there that has the label WinIce/SoftIce

Go to the Administrative Tools in your Control Panel, then double-click on Services. See if it's in that list. If it is, stop the service and change its startup type to Disabled to prevent it from starting up again.

i stoped the machine debug manager but its still not working this ****en thing

**** i even disableed it it still didn;t work

The Machine Debug Manager is something completely different: it's a part of Visual Studio. Notice it doesn't have Winice or Softice in its name. Disabling it won't help you solve your problem so you'd better re-enable it before it starts acting up.

What software are you trying to run, anyway? Maybe we can help you better once we know what exactly you're trying to run; it could have specific conflicts with something else.
