i need help

ok everyone here it is i have been wanting to play some madden online, i finally got a computer and got online so i was ready to get my ps2 online, i have the newer slim version, ok i am connected to a wireless network the isp is comcast, the serve for my network is down stairs, i bought the ethernet cable hooked it up and i tried get my ps2 online but it dosen't find a network at the end of the cable what am i missing guys thanks

I'm a little confused: you said you were connected via a wireless network, so why are you using an ethernet cable? If you are trying to connect the PS2 to the wireless network, you need a wireless network adapter for PS2. Or you can jist connect the PS2 to the router or modem via the ethernet cable you have.
