CD drive/burner doesn't recognize CDs

Hello,

Recently, I tried to burn a file using Nero, but the CD or the CD drive stopped working. I even uninstalled Nero and tried restarting a few times. The CD stopped recognizing the CD inserted, and sometimes it would recognize it, but it took a very long time. The last time it ever recognized a CD was when I was trying to install Diablo 2 yesterday. Here's the error message that occurred twice: http://img157.imageshack.us/img157/3743/cddrive3xf.jpg

My burner model is BTC BCE4012IM if it helps. Please ask for any clarification if you need it. Thanks.

Hi!

Try update the firmware for the drive.

Thanks for the suggestion. I tried updating to the latest firmware from BTC, but nothing has changed.

O.k.

Then, try downloadiing a registry repair software. And do you have a lens cleaning CD?

No, I don't have a lens-cleaning CD.

I just cleaned the registry with TuneUp Utilities 2006, but nothing.

The CD drive itself could be broken? Now it even says there's no disc in the CD drive ("Please insert a disc into drive H:.").

It could be faulty of coarce. Or it could be dust or other stuff on the lens. Hard to tell.
