Hi
I have just finally received DSL in my area, I go and hook everything up and I still cant get on the internet I go to the CMD prompt and ping my adapter and it comes back not able to reach host, so i do an ipconfig / all and it says iam in media disconnect how did it get there...... how do i fix this please can any one help i want to use my DSL SO BAD

Usually media disconnected means that the nic isn't detecting link on the ethernet cable. Check the connections to your network card and to the device (i.e. modem, router) and make sure connections tight. If the same thing, try replacing the ethernet cord.

If you're still getting media disconnected, check your device manager and make sure the network card is listed correctly. If everything still looks good, you could either have a problem nic or a bad DSL modem/router.

make sure the modem is detecting an active dsl before diving into your computer
