Xp will not load

It doesnt matter if i try safe mode or normal It stops at the loading screen but the bar still moves. Anyone know anything i can do? I dont have the xp disk
i do have a second computer that i can download files if thats what i might need.

Standard questions -
Is it a new install?
If not was it working OK before?
Did you install new hardware/software recently?
If it's not a new install I'd try a repair install as this usually fixes broken things without losing your data.
