OS install question

I have yet another question :-)
We just purchased and installed a new Exchange Server, leaving us with a perfectly good workstation (our old Exchange server). One of our users has been experiencing many difficulties with her workstation, so I thought I would swap her computer with the old server. Her computer has XP as the operating system and the old server has 2000. I was wanting to upgrade the old server to XP (using the license from her computer and then downgrade her old computer to 2000). That way, all the computers on our network would be XP and we wouldn't be violating any licenses. The only problem is, I have no idea where to begin. I wasn't sure if I could you the XP disk that came with our computers to install on the server and to top it all off, I've never installed an OS before!?! Any direction would be MUCH appreciated!
Always eager to learn :-)

dont upgrade, format and do a full install. upgrades are problematic, and its unlikely that you dont have a full copy of xp around somewhere. if you dont, the company should invest.

Do you happen to know what the recommended partition size is?

if you have a large drive, 20g or so is a good OS partition. unless you have something huge you want to put on it. if its smaller than 50g, just make one.
