windows media player advise needed

hi there for the last few months ive been having trouble playing videos on windows media player, i get the warning ''Windows Media Player cannot play the file because it is damaged or corrupted'' sometimes it will start to play the video then stop at random points othertimes il have 2 move the cursor a min or so into the vid and it will start then stop other times it will play fine or not at all. ive contacted the site i get the vids from and they assure me they r fine, im at a complete loss as to what i need to do so any help would be greatly appreciated

The Windows media player is a piece of crap. Especially version 9.
And version 10 is'nt that much better. My WMP 10 refuses to play perfectly good MPEG files. It says it's an unsupported file type lol. Even though I have checked all file type boxes in the options.

Download Winamp instead. It does the the same job as WMP But much better, and music even sounds better in Winamp than in WMP.

RealPlayer is also very good.
