Hi

I have bought asus laptop recently but within two weeks it failed I donnot know the problem it simply showed a blinking power indicator and it couldn't start even I cannot switch on if I switch on I cannot switch off. If I give power from the adaptor, the battery cannot charged so there is some discontinuty I think...
The problem faced me while I was using internet and there was storm(lightening) and I heard some crush sound and it stopped working totally.....
one technician says there is a motherboard failurity (the ceramic capacitor near the modem) failed so it couldn't maintain I felt hopeless and I simply put the laptop since last year since I live in Ethiopia and I couldn't get any components
Is it possible to get the circuit diagram of my laptop motherboard?
The specification of my laptop is ASUS A2000 laptop
System manufacturer Asustek
System model A2H/L
System type X86-based Pc
Bios Version Award software, Inc, 0213
Processor Mobile Intel (R) CPU 2.4 GHz
Processor version X86 Family 15 model 2 stepping 9 Genuine Intel 2.39 GHz
Product key 55274-640-0000356-23640

please if you have some solution give me.

If there is actual hardware damage like a blown capacitor, you need to have a technician do a repair unless you are electronically competent.

As to prevention, if you run any pcs during a thunder/lightning storm you should be on a UPS (uniterruptible power supply) or a surge protector with such a massive rating that it can deal with a lightning strike in the area. Note that good power protection also includes connections to protect your telephone and coaxial connections.

Hi
I have read the reply thanks!!

But i think it is not the power problem since the adaptor works properly. When the technician saw the mother board he saw something burnt near the modem and he said there was some bad situation there and he said it is not only power input is from my wall socket outlet but also from the telephone line since I faced this problem while I was using internet.

If you bought the laptop so recently you should be able to take it back for another one. Laptops are particularly hard to open up because you often have to disconnect the display and keyboard which can be a pain and components are on both sides of the motherboard, so you would almost be disassembling the laptop completly. Then you would be faced with the problem of replacing the damaged component, and the only things on a laptop that are replacable are the hard disk, RAM, and sometimes the processor and WiFi card. Everything else is integrated into the motherboard, so you would essentally be rebuilding the laptop completly. I think you would just find it easier to figgure out a way to return it. The only thing you can do is take one RAM stick out at a time and see if those were damaged and if excluding one solves it, in which case you can just replace the RAM, but I think you will unfortunatley be getting a new laptop.

At least newer laptops have almost all surface mounted chips on the boards so you don't have the prickly ends from thru-hole component leads. It also makes repairs more difficult though, so your best bet is to send it back while it is still under warranty.

Maybe you can find it out by using Everest home? Not sure though.

But I'll guess, you will have a pretty hard time finding such a lappy mobo. And it will cost you. both buying it and have it replaced. I wouldnt even dream about trying to do this myself.

Is'nt the lappy still under warranty?
