Does any one know if this tech has made it to Computer drives yet..this would be awsome to put my entire Music on one disk...

I don't believe so (I could be wrong), but if they are out, they'd be VERY expensive. As it is, dual layer DVDs are about $2-6 per disk (depending on how large a quantity you buy), and the smallest pack you can buy is 10 packs for about $20. I have even seen 100 packs of dual layer DVDs for over $120. An 8.5 GB dual layer disk willed with MP3 (~ 5:00 mins, 128 Kbps = ~5 MB) files would fit about 1700 songs. If you want to play them in the stereo, then burn an MP3 CD, which can hold about 140 songs. I was able to fit 6 entire albums by Green Day on one MP3 CD for my stereo that way.

well, I know that HD-DVD and BlueRay are in the runnings for the next great media benchmark. The first thing to hit the store shelves was an HD-DVD movie player that just came out recently that has a price tag thats bound to knock your socks off at over $1000. the first BlueRay DVD movie player is supposed to hit shelves sometime in May, but who knows, and is rumored to cost around $800. I've heard that the Playstation 3 is rumored to be around $500-600 and comes with the BlueRay DVD-Rom. An external HD-DVD-Rom kit for the XBOX 360 is also supposed to be making an appearance soon. I haven't heard of anything for computers, but it's bound to be following close at hand. And the prices should be sky high as well. The newest "hot" technology=a rush-to-be-the-first-in-line crowd=inflated prices=happy manufacturers with to much money in their pockets!

Screw Blue-Ray im definatly goin with HD-DVD. We all know how much of a nazi Sony is with their products. If sony has their way the avarge person will not even be able to touch a Blue-ray burner untill is almost obsolete. All you will be able to do is watch your overpriced dvds in your overpriced sony player. Im not going to say Microsoft doesnt insert their fair share of security crap, but based on the past ide trust msft way before sony.

This isn't so much a war of manufacturers, but of the newest technology. It's the old "Beta vs, VHS" "Audio cassette vs. 8-track(sp?, way before my time)" war of winner takes all. Both Sony and Microsoft have indeed had there taste of tech monopoly, but there are so many more people involved. Movie studios for example have had to decide who to bet on. Some movies from FOX, Universal, United Artists, Dreamworks, etc have gambled everything that the format they went with is going to win over the other. I could be mistaken, but I haven't heard of a movie studio doubling up and going both ways. Nor have I heard anything about a dual-format player that will be able to play both BlueRay AND HD-DVD.
