SD Card (camera)

This Kodak card costs $104.95 but it says that it is designed for fast performance for both pictures and video. I then found this one for 27.99 which also says that it is fast (80x)... My question is, is the first one more expensive due to brand name and will they perform the same?
I have a Kodak Z7590 and I was thinking about buying a 1GB SD card. Thanks for your advice.

It's hard to say what the Kodak SD card is for kind of speed. But as it is capable of 30FPS video. I guess it is about the same speed as the other SD card (80X).
But the price for that Kodak card is horrible. Probably as you say, the name.
If you want something really fast and much cheaper than the Kodak?
Then this is the flash card for you. And Corsair is as you probably know, one hec of a memory maker.

I would agree, name brand products can be a rip-off, and even if it is a lot faster, its probably not worth it for that price. Go with the one goranpaa suggested.
Depending in how many megapixels your camera is you may want a 2 GB card. If its more than 5, I woulld recomend one like this, as you won't be able to take too many pictures. This card is the same speed as the other one.

Kodak must be insane, to charge that price ( What is it made of? Pure gold or what? Lol.) You can get 2 of the 2 gig 133X Corsair cards Matt suggested, for + 14 bucks on the Kodak card. And you wont find anything faster than 133X I belive.

Wow, thanks for the enlightenment guys. I'll have to get one of those eventually. It's a shame that they are out of stock right now (I would have bought that 2GB with $20 rebate). They look like awesome cards. ^^

Wow thanks! Would you say ZipZoomFly is a dependable and secure site (versus NewEgg whom I've ordered from before)? Thanks again!!

I think they're pretty much equal in that regard.
As to Kodak, well I think they're still trying to figure out how to replace their film camera nitch. About 20 years ago they had a second operation in the town I live in. Now they are selling of real estate in Rochester like crazy. The problem is that Bouche & Lomb, Xerox and a couple other large companies would be the only ones big enough to use the whole buildings and they have struggles of their own.
I wouldn't be surprised if they are using gold though. It is still the best metal for connections because it doesn't corode. Most daughter boards still use it and when I was working at a local printed circuit board plant they had specialists in recycling gold from boards that didn't pass inspection. Those gold fingers on video cards, sound cards and other PCI devices don't just look like gold, but they really are! Perhaps Kodak is simply using too much.

Yeah, probably they are trying that. But I think it is kinda weird, that they make good digicams, for very resonable prices. And then charge the shirt off your back, for the accessories.
Especially since the competition on the flashcards for ex. is really tuff.

Yup. Just like I paid more for Microsoft's Office 2003 than I did for Windows XP Pro and Windows XP Pro X64 was a free beta edition. Maybe they'll charge me and arm, leg and 2 fingers off the hand that's left for X64 once the evaluation period is over.

Lol, probably yes. And with those prices MicroSoft charges. It's kinda comical, Bill Gates, still cant seem to figure out, why Windows XP (And for sure Vista also will be ) is one of the most pirated software there is lol.

Alright thanks goranpaa, just ordered it. ^^

Well, I got it. It works, my camera even says that it can hold 1200-1400 photos in 5.0MP now. Thanks again goranpaa, I believe you've helped me in the past as well. ^^

O.k.
1200-1400 photos? Well, then it will take a while before the card is full then lol.
How is the write speed, compaired to your old SD card?
Yepp, when you got the Logitech speakers.
You're welcome.
