Web Pages not loading properly!

This is sickening as of late! The likes of hotmail, microsoft don't load fully. Icons are missing on pages like in hotmail all the links to click e.g. delete are missing. Well they are there just the txt. No picture. Something wrong with the Java me thinks! OS is XP and using Firefox! First problem i've had with FF. Just looks like pages are completely loaded although everything that is supposed to be in the pages is there but not loaded completely! It's hard to get across what i'm saying!
Anyways, any help given much appreciated!

Does hitting F5 to refresh/reload the page make it better or do nothing?

I'd try going to www.mozilla.com and redownloading the Firefox again. The latest version is number 1.5. Do you have that version or a previous one?

FireFox doesn't work on some Microsoft pages like Windows Update. Try using Internet Explorer and see if they load with that.

You can try another browser, I'm not fond of FF myself. Right now I use Opera, they have a beta out with bit torrent built in and some other nice features.
