I've got a doosey... A friend of mine gave me this laptop to look at. When it boots up, it has the following error message....
Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrups
/winnt/system32/config/systemced startup options for windows 2000, press F8
So I pop in the boot disk that he gave me, WinXp (laptop says it's designed for XP, with that little sticker, even though it says something about 2000, go figure)
So I book from CD and try to repair it, i get a blue screen. Says REGISTRY_ERROR
I try going into recovery console. I can get into the console, but as soon as I select the first option it gives me the same blue screen.
If I try to select new install (to install right on top of it) as soon as I accept the EULA, it gaves the same error message. All I really want to do is wipe the drive and reinstall it at this point... but it won't let me. Any ideas?
EDIT: Oh yeah, it had two rams of memory and I've tried each one seperately with no change..
