noisy hdd

A friend of mine has an older 500mhz amd systen and needed a little extra space to install another program. so i grabbed an old 5gb seagate hard disk that i had and installed it as a slave to the primary drive.
it has and continues to work flawlessly for the last six months but it sounds like a large commercial jet liner spooling up for takeoff!!!
not really. but it does sound like a jet setting on the tarmac at idle. i just thought i would share.
