I had a hardware problem last week, and thought I had it fixed. But it turned out that
the problem was the hard drive in it's death throes. So today I got a new hard drive, and it is installed. I have reloaded everything that I can think of. And it was working fine.
But I just went to shut down, and hit the log off button, and got a message..
"System shutting down N/T authority system..status code 1073741819"and then something aout Windows/32..something or other.
.I didn't have time to write the whole message....But am wondering what caused this. And do I STILL have a problem?
does anyone know ? NOW I'm worried !

if it did what you wanted it to - log off, shut down, restart, etc - ignore it. make sure you update windows fully.

Thanks Redwench. I DID do all the windows updates after re-installing SVC PK 2, and there were 51 of them. I have been thinking about this overnight. And the system did a Reboot after I got that message, and then I shut down normally. I'm thinking because I was reloading all those programs and stuff, and I did NOT re-start after every one, MAYBE the reboot was to "finalize" the last programs I re loaded (You know how they say...."restart now" or the option to "No, I will restart later"...) I HOPE that's all it was. Thanks much.

At least you didn't have a "please wait... loading data" message appear for 6 hours before realizing what you'd done! I've done that!

Well Gee, If you can't trust what your own computer is saying to you, who CAN you
trust ? If I had that screen with that message, I would do the same thing, I'm afraid .
(After all, this MACHINE is smarter than I am ! ..and that's not saying much. LOL )

You wouldn't happen to be blonde would you? If so, then it's genetic! Just kidding. I know a few very smart blondes. My niece is going to an engineering school and she's a blonde. I learned my lesson and have limited the number of programs I load between reboots to 3 at most now. If it's a Microsoft program, then I reboot immediately after it.
