Someone remind me what this means? Thanks.

It means a recordable digital video disc that can be recorded on only once by either a stand alone DVD recorder that hooks up to your TV or a DVD burner in a computer. 1 disc can hold 4.7 gigabytes of information and they are rather handy for storing large files that you don't need to change. Personally, I prefer DVD+RWs myself. I use 11 of them to back up my music mp3 files - all 11,000+ of them.
Anyway, I think you probably already knew this, but wanted to know about the format. Just about any DVD recorder on the market can burn to them and also read from them. Many stand alone recorders require the disc to be formated before making recordings and they cannot hold a combination of data files from a computer and recordings done in a stand alone. This is because of the 1 time recording. Sometimes the format done by a stand alone recorder will not be recognized by a computer on a DVD+RW if the disc is slightly damaged nor will such discs play in anything other than the recorder that it was recorded in. Both DVD+R and DVD+RW discs are very choosy about fingerprints, scratches and dirt. I've found that CDRs CDRWs, et cetera are but less so.
