Shutdown at 97° C ?!?!?

I just found out that my computer won't shutdown automaticly untill the temp gets to 97° C. Thats insane! My heatsink and CPU will melt before that! How do I change it? is it something in the OS? There is nothing in the BIOS. I don't plan on making the CPU go that high, but why would it be that high?

Have you checked out if there is any temp monitor + temp alarm software on the manufacturers home?

No, nothing on the manufacturers web site. Right now I use MobileMeter.

No, nothing on the manufacturers web site, just drivers. Right now I use MobileMeter for temp monitoring.

Usually there's an option in BIOS to set automatic shutdown temps on good boards --- The default however is usually in the 60 some range, quite unusual to see the 90's, whoever programmed that BIOS should get slapped...
I remember seeing a generic temp monitoring software that would sit in the system tray and shutdown at certain temps. Try www.tucows.com
ok got it! Download hmonitor and in its settings you can specify to execut something when temperature reaches a certain point - you could program your own executable or just write a simple script - or download one online, although I KNOW a program exists that will shutdown at a certain temp, unable to find it atm however
