I figure I'd post this since Google does a shitty job of announcing their GMail features.
As of today, the "Select All" feature has been pushed out to all GMail users. Yeah, it took them this long, but you can finally select all messages within the scope of a mailbox or a label. Can we say "Yay!" ?
Additionally, in case you don't know this, another feature that's really useful (and has been around for about a year) is the ability to set what shows up on your "From" field when you send e-mails out (this only works if you're a bonafide owner of said email address that you want to use). So for example, I have my MIT mailbox to split to my GMail account (which just means that all email going to my MIT account also goes to my GMail account), and all mail I send from that GMail account appears to other people as if I had sent it from my MIT account. You can find more about this feature in your Settings -> Account tab.
For those who don't have a GMail account but want one for use or trial (and need an invite), feel free to send me an email at tanthalas AT gmail DOT com. It's quite spiffy.

Yeah a couple months ago I was cleaning out my majishun account (after not having touched it in YEARS!) and had something like... a lot of spam. About as much as you could possibly have in thirty days time in the spam folder, plus about six months worth of it overflowing into the inbox.
something like 30K messages.
I immediately sent them one of those notification thingies about select all. Cool that they got it in.
their feature announcment is a little odd, but it sort of makes sense.

i use it, love it, and have a few invites left myself if someone wants to pm me for the invite.

Only a few? Every gmail account I have and every gmail user I know has like 100 invites.

Just an update: they finally released the "murder" feature (they call it "mute") where you can essentially make a thread never show up in your inbox again. Just press M on a current thread you're looking at or select a number of threads and hit M.

and how do u do this feature, makin an email look like it comes from another email of yours, like how you said about your MIT account? that sounds very useful! please if you dont mind, tell me how to do that!
