Want a good, decently priced digi cam?

Maybe some of you guys is looking for a good, but not too expensive 5 meg. pixel digital camera?
I can heartly recommend Canon Powershot A 610, $206.95. Wich I guess is a really good price for it.

It have, as you can see in the included pictures. A rotatable LCD that is pretty bright and fast. And the fact that you can rotate it 360 degrees, also help protecting the lCD..
4X optical zoom. ( you can add an conversion Lens Adapter + tele lens or wide angle for ex. + filters and some other stuff. See the link below.

The camera, uses AA batteries wich is easy to get. But it is adviceable to get a charger and 2 X 4 sets of rechargeables. The camera use 4 batteries at the time.
I myself use 1800MA rechargeables. And the battery echonomy is very good. Much better than the other digi cams I have had. ( Olympus C 765, Minolta Z3).
You also get Auto Focus assist lamp. Wich will help the camera focusing in bad light.
The camera uses SD memory cards ( Wich is cheap). Corsair SD 133X speed, 1 or 2 gig is a good choise for this camera. Especially, if you plan take a lot of video clips.
There are a lot of settings on this camera . Everything from "auto" to "manual" and some pre set scenerie settings. And video with sound. You can zoom while taking videoclips. The video clips is good quality, for beeing a digi cam.
And finally, Canon have overcome the "purple fringeing" problem, that most of the Canon digi cam lenses had on their mainstream cameras before.
The only downsides I can think of. Is the rather flimsy, door for the connectors and not beeng able to use a neck strap. But if that is really a problem, that is up to you to decide.
I have taken about 1400 photos with this camera. Everything from portraits, indoor scenes, macro, nature, animals and night photos. And I'm very pleased with the results.
As said , the 360 degree, rotatable LCD is a mayor hit for taking one good feature on this cam.
This camera is also fast to get ready, for taking a shot. Actually, the fastest camera I have used.
The camera is pretty big, so dont expect to be able to put it in a shirt pocket . At least, if it's a normal shirt pocket lol. It weighs, including batteries 285 g (10.1 oz).
If this camera also have had "anti shake system", like the Panasonic cams for ex. it would have been a real killer!
But on the other hand, the A 610 would have gone up quite much in price then I guess.
This camera, suits both the novice, as well as the more advanced amateur photographer.

I've been meaning to get a digital camera, but 200 still seems a little pricey for me.

It is 4.2 megapixel ( Can handle photo enlargements up to A4 size) and does'nt have rotatable LCD. But have got some fine reviews. Othervice, this Canon is much alike the A 610.

Both of these look nice, but I think I'll stick to my DSLR for most of my photos. I'm looking into the nikon and fujifilm cameras for a backup point and shoot camera if my dslr should ever go out.

Well, If you have a SLR, you manage lol.
Also check out Panasonic for backup camera. Panasonic DMC FZ 30 is great. Or if you wanna something smaller? Then DMC-TZ1. Both have Leica lens and image stabilisator. I think I will get the DMC FZ 30 ( black) later on.
