when im streaming music, or talking on AIM. i suddenly get disconnected from the net, and then i just have to sign back in to AIM and im still connected. is that my wifi's fault, or my cable connection's fault? Or is it my DNS, that i recently switched to's fault.

Thats hard to say, I would bet on wireless though.
Does it happen consistantly every x minutes?
Does it stay down for more than 10 seconds/just long enough for AIM to kick you?

Cordless phones can screw up wireless routers, in my experience, if the phone is being used near the router (10-15'). Next time it drops, see if anyone is on the phone near the router. If this is the case, you can try changing the routers channel and see if that helps. (see router manual for info).

it happens for like 1 second.
like i lose signal and get kicked off, but the internet instantly comes back up. and for some reason the AIM auto reconnect doesnt want to reconnect.

I wonder if your cable is set to connect on demand? Also, sometimes if your cable modem is renewing its ip address from your ISP (usually every 24 hours I believe they are set to do this, otherwise everyone would have Static IP's and no one would pay extra for them) then you will experience a momentary lapse of connectivity. Possibly check your firewall log and your event log in admin tools in the control panel for any clues. ALso try writing down your ip address and when you experience a lapse of connectivity, see if it has changed.
