Question on PS2 swap disks and modding and all that junk.

After a while of playing "back up" copies with my friends on their modded PS2s i decided to finally do it to mine.
I went the cheap and easy route on this one and bought a flip top PS2 case and some Swap magic disks. I dont really want to get a no solder mod chip unless I have to. I was wondering if there were any utilities and drivers out there for connecting my PS2 to my computer via Mini usb cable. I mean I modified my razr with my computer, so why not my ps2. And then maybe I could put a boot program on my memory card so I could use the swap magic disks, also if anyone knows how to do that, that would be great. Or perhaps an alternative that doesnt require me buying something.
Any info in the right direction or about PS2 modding through the computer would be appreciated.
thanks.

I dunno if this helps, but I have heard about people loading linux on their ps2's(or was it xbox, think it was xbox).... Not sure how they did it or where they went from there but if you have a modded ps2 than burn some games at 4x and enjoy!

yea, you can put linux on your PS2 if you have a hard drive. They actually have a linux kit that i think includes a key board and hard drive, plus linux disks. Probably could find it on ebay. And If you have The HDD loader program you can load games right from your PS2 hard drive. But like I said, I went the cheap route. But thanks.
*also little side note, if you put a linux formatted disk in an xbox it will eject the disk and shut off. I thought that was kinda funny.
