Here is the problem, i start windows, everything is fine, then PC slows down when i activate windows media player to play some sort of a video, i formatted, the problem is gone, but when i leave it a long time, then double click on a video file that usually starts windows Media player 10, nothing appears and when i ALT-CTRL-Del , i see wmplayer.exe working with low sources and i cant end process it, after a while using Zoomplayer, and wmplayer.exe working behind PC restarts on its own, note that the video files are usually on the SATA Maxtor HD that one that i got Adaptec SATA Expansion slots on, i dont know if its some sort of conflict, because the hard disk works fine, any idea would be helpful.
checked rams, they are fine, am afraid its the processor, but i have no idea how to find out, maybe windows media player 10, working with classic and zoomplayer now, lets see if its really is Wmplayer.exe. Thanks in advance.

Could be the CPU, but if the machine is working OK until you startup media player, then I would say it is probably that causing your problems.
Try re-installing media player.
Can you move the video files to another drive, just to make sure that there is no problem there?
Also, update your graphics card drivers.

To uninstall versions of WMP later than #9 you usually have to select the "show updates" box in add/remove programs. It will roll back #10 to the previous version. Then you can go to www.microsoft.com and redownload it. I would suggest even giving WMP 11 a try. It has a graphical interface that shows all the album covers for the music you have. It's easier to find exactly what you're searching for visually. It also automatically scans the My Music folder whenever Windows Media Player is running for new music. With a P4 and 1 gig of memory it should work just fine. Also, it seems it has fewer bugs than #10.
