No Video, Computer Fails to boot

My girlfriends computer is not booting up, I get the message on the moniter that says it is working but no signal from the computer. Everything is plugged in, I have tried shutting off the power unplugging everything and putting back together, and reseting the CMOS jumper and it still is not giving a signal, I am quite confused, I do not know what do to. I have an old Video Card I am going to try when I go over there later today, can anyone make sense of this? why would the video just cut out like that? Any time I have had a similar problem, clearing the CMOS always fixed it. What other things have I not tried? Any help is appreciated.

Are you getting any post beeps? normally if you have a video problem you will get some post beeps, these vary from BIOS to BIOS.
If you are getting no Post beeps change the CMOS battery, some motherboards give no video & no post beeps if the CMOS battery has failed.

I would guess the videocard have kicked the infamous bucket. Good you have a spare one.
But as Kestel says, the mobo battery can also be the problem.

no video and failing to boot are 2 very different things. which one is it?

I would be very surprised if the battery is dead, we just got a new one maybe a month or so ago after repleacing the 2 or 3 year old one that came wtih it when the system clock was not running on time. I just tried the other video card and it still didnt work. I tried reseting the CMOS again still no go, I dont hear and POST beeps or nothing, this baord plays a recording through the spearker "System completing power on self test, now booting from operating system" right before windows loads, I am not hearing this either, so I am assuming it isnt booting up, the motherboard gets power and when i turn on the switch all the fans go on and the cdroms light up there power on tests or whatever they do but no video or audio is coming out, I am pretty baffled.

Checked the mobo for leaking capasitators or burnt areas etc?
Edit.
Maybe the psu ist'nt giving enough juice. Starting to fail?

I tried unplugging the CD-Rom drives an stuff so there would be less power but it still isnt starting, i called Asus a while ago and the recording said the estimated wait time was 2 minutes, then soon after a guy picked up and said to leave my name and number and they would call me back so i did. I was kind of preoccupied doing other things so i didnt call back right away untill maybe 2 hours past by and they still didnt call. So i called back and tech support is closed....wonderful...if anyone has somemore ideas I greatly appreciate all your input I am stumped, I guess I will try another PSU if I can I am not sure if I have another one lieing around.

So it turns out the CPU failed, I tried mine after consulting ASUS Tech Support.
