Here's the link to download it. Note that just like beta 2 the 32 bit version of Windows XP cannot be upgraded to the 64 bit version of Vista, but it must be done from a full install. Also notice that there are both 32 bit and 64 bit editions available again. I downloaded both versions last night and I've just finished setting up the 64 bit edition 2 minutes ago. I am typing this while using it. I've noticed so far that it appears to have fixed one major problem with beta 2 - the speed or lack of it! RC-1 set up in about the same amount of time as Windows XP and then the only thing that was missing was anitvirus software. Windows Defender set itself up right away. I've also noticed that the Anti-phishing filter built into the Internet Explorer is much faster than it was either on beta 2 or on XP X64 IE 7 beta 3.

I got my email from MS & will start the download later. Good that the speed issue has been looked into.

Unfortunately WMP 11 is still rather slow in adding music files to its library in the 64 bit edition. I don't know for certain about the 32 bit edition because the PCs I own are either 1) 64 bit or 2) too slow a processor for Vista anyway. It requires at least an 800 MHz CPU and the Pentium 2 I am fixing up for one of my sisters is only 400.
I see some people have been ignoring the news or just haven't been reading it. Some people even on OTS think that Vista is coming out this year, when Microsoft announced 4 months ago that it would be at least January 2007 if not later before the final release. Still looking for games that will work with Vista in spite of the DX 10 v. video card thing myself.

Just downloading RC1 at present. Beta 2 works OK on my system, although it is a bit slow. Mind you the system specs are very low anyway.
1ghz AMD Duron, 640mb RAM. Still it does what I want it to & I can't afford to upgrade at present.
