60 inch "true" LCD tvs?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi all, I have a client at work that wants a 60" or larger LCD on his boat, but all I find online are rear projection-type LCD tvs. These are WAY too thick for my application, and Im seeking one that is under 5" thick, as its going in a shallow cabinet with a lift system. Must be nice to have that kinda cash! Any ideas on where to look? I googled it and only found rear projections. Is there another term that I should include in the search that applys to TVs other than the rear projection type?

If you are looking for thin, don't go with a regular LCD. The viewing angle is smaller than a mouse. Go for a wall mountable plasma. They are more expensive, but worth it.

thanks, but plasmas have an extremely short lifespan in a marine application, with the shaking and jarring of the ocean. Our boats are doing 40 knots in 8-12 foot seas, so plasmas arent really the solution. viewing angle isnt a problem either, as the rooms on a boat are rather small anyway. also, i hear that plasmas are suseptible (?) to image burn in. The client plans to run a slideshow of images on all tv's throughout the boat, so he's worried about burnin. Ive seen these large lcds in airports, but I just dont know where to get one. Basically Im looking for a "dumb" monitor, meaning it doesnt need the tuner built in or any other stuff like that. Hes gonna have a Request system installed that will pull all his media (movies, music, pics) off of rack mounted harddrives.
