I just switched from Cable internet to DSL...The reviews in my area gave bellsouth a better rating for my area...I loose sync about 5 times a night, I play WoW and game alot on other programs..so this isnt good...is there anything I can do to prevent this?

do you have adsl or sdsl?

I think I am on ADSL2...its Bellsouth's Fastaccess 6.0 service

are you certain youre losing sync (modem issue), rather than having the connection drop out?

If you are having modem problems, make sure you "recycle" the modem at least once a week. Turn it off for 20 or 30 seconds, turn it back on and reboot the computer. Even better, turn it off whenever you turn off the computer and then turn it back on before you boot up. Many people make the mistake of leaving their DSL modems on constantly is if they work the same as cable modems and they don't.

Well I replaced the phone cord and filter to be able to remove that from the equasion. I dont even have a Phone on the line that we use for DSL. Ill take the disconnecting when not using to heart though, only problem with that is..downloading..is pretty constant..Also I switched my modem off from doing the PPOE connecting to making my Router do it..So far its worked better that way..any ideas?

you dont need a filter if theres no phone on the line, yank that. its a bit difficult to determine if your computer is the issue or the modem. try removing the router as well, and see if that does anything.

Also make sure you don't have a filter between the phone jack and the modem itself. It sounds like a "no duh" but some people have done that. Easy mistake to make.

that depends on the filter, some are made to be placed there. but as one isnt needed, no point in having one at all.
