Hi

My Computer keeps restarting in Combat Flight Simulator i get a blue screen and the computer restarts.

My specs

ASROCK K7VT6 WITH THE LATEST BIOS

ATI 9600 GARPHICS CARD WITH THE LATEST DRIVER AND SOFTWARE

768 DDR PC2700 RAM

150GB HARD DRIVE

I HAVE ALL THE LATEST WINDOWS UPDATE AS WELL ANY IDEAS

Is this the only game you have problems with? Cuz the 2 latest Catalyst drivers does not support the Radeons below the X300 card.

Catalyst 6.6 whas the last one supporting you card.

Try unistall all ATI stuff exept the VDM driver in "add / remove programs".

Then use the cleaner in the link below to remove any eventual rest of the driver in the registry.

Read the instructions carefully. And use the "multiple filter" setting in the cleaner.

Catalyst 6.6. here:

Save this driver for future use.

Hi

I have got some pics of the errors that it is displaying.

Posted by: goranpaa

So this is the errors you get after cleaning and with the new driver?

Run "Memtest" for 30 minutes as a safety precausion. Just to eliminate a possible RAM problem.

I ran memtest for 9 hours and no problems where found
and yes this is what i get after cleaning it.

Is this the errors you get after cleaning / installing the videocard driver?

Posted by: goranpaa

IRQL_NOT LESS_OR_EQUAL, can be a conflict between your videocard and another PCI card. Probably the soundcard. That is if you have a PCI soundcard? Then try moving it to another slot. Also update the soundcard driver if you have'nt done this lately? The sound and videocard is very closely related in games.

Yes this is what i get alfter installing the videocard driver

I have got on board sound and ATI 9600 SE AGP graphics card they are both running on the latest drivers.

I suggest you make a repair installation of Windows XP.
This wont remove your installed games and programmes. Just the service pacs (If they are'nt integrated into the Windows cd?)
And also the windows updates will go.

Just make sure your videocard driver is WHQL certified before you start repairing. Or you may run into trouble. If it is'nt? Unistall it first.

Guide here:

P.s IF you get the message you cant start the Windows installation. Because the version you are trying to install is older than the installed one. Just uninstall service pac 2.

I have allredy done that but i will do it again on friday when i have access to it.

Thanks for the help.

Hope the repair will fix the prob. Othervice we will have to see what else we can do?

You're welcome.

768 megs of ram is a bit skimpy to play flight sims well. have you ran this program ok in the past? I would definitely get some more ram, it will speed things up noticeably throughout your computer if not fixing your problem with the flight sim.

Hi

Thanks for the help but the Repair install did not work.

Posted by: pdnielsen

I had a similar problem with some older games. I couldn't DO a repair install and had to reformat my whole drive to get DX9 to pass the tests and for the games to not crash the PC with the BSOD. For some reason my Windows XP SP2 disc does not recognize that it is already installed on my PC and I am UNABLE to do a repair install because the option to do a repair has not been given. No option of pressing R or anything. Instead it just goes and puts itself on a directory marked C:/Windows0 and I end up with 2 copies of Windows on my hard drive. If HP had drivers available for Vista yet I would use that and make do without Real Arcade until next year. I timed the installation of my Vista RC 1 the last time I did it. It took 33 minutes even though XP took nearly 48 - and XP was on the SATA drive which is 13% faster. That's before the updates. I keep going "is it January yet?"

hmmm is you ram set in sual channel if so that probobly your problem.Inorder to dual chanel you need 2 twin sticks of ram.

Posted by: goranpaa

Is this the only game you have this problem with?

Have you patched the game with the latest patch(es)?

Posted by: chris44

I have the same problem with VRally3 as well i have looked on Microsofts web site and i cant find any updates or patches.
