Backlight Bleeding?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hello, I just got my self a Samsung 205BW 2 days ago and I think I'm having a bit of backlight bleeding at the top of the monitor... I'm Not to sure as this is my first LCD. When I'm watching movies in the dark i notice the top black area is lighter than the bottom black area.

Heres a pic but the Camera exaggerates the brightness, Its a blackbackground btw.

Heres a bigger version

It is kinda annoying i guess, but it's only visible when my room is dark And that section of the monitor is displaying dark colours. Should I get it returned to the shop I bought it from?

Ty in advance

Maybe a silly question? But have you tried the settings for gamma etc?

Also try this.

Also check out the "auto optimize button" on your lcd. And use it at the screen you are watching for the moment. This may help some.

This is normal. I get this on my LCD. Its because of the position the backlight (it illuminates the dark pixels, so they are not really as dark in certain areas) makes the viewing angle rather limited. You will notice that if you move your head up and down the color of the pixels will change.

Another little helpful tool to set gamma right is "Quick Gamma".
I have just tested it. Works well.

When adjusting the monitor, it's important you have the monitor in eye hight.

mmm i set the gamma low but theres still bleeding at the top, but its fainter when i lower it. I'm not too sure if this is normal for my screen or not. I've tried asking other people with the same monitor but no luck.

Not to be rude, but...

I told 'ya so.

Every LCD Monitor I have used has had this to some extent. Its just because of the very narrow viewing angle of LCDs.
