Bush said that the situation in Iraq had "improved since 9/11", but the white house recently said that there are "more terrorists in Al-Qaeda than a year ago". And his approval ratings have dropped down to around 30% and not so long ago gas prices were $4.00 per gallon while people in south america were paying $.69. I'm sure you can guess my opinion.

leaving aside one's personal opinion of shrubbery, why do people ascribe the power over gas prices to a single elected official? gas prices are driven almost solely by the market, and very little by the government. the shrub couldnt bring down gas prices significantly if he released the entire reserve, which is the only thing he could do by himself.

Shadysoldier is not typical of his generation. Thank goodness. My eldest niece just started studying to be an engineer and my 13 year old niece spells correctly. Perhaps one day he will make a good moderator for some internet forum or maybe even be the next Dan Quail! He couldn't spell either.
In the meantime I am one of the people who voted for Bush both times, but would have prefered to vote for "Noneof D. Above" for president. My vote for "Dubbya" for a second term is a decision I have since wished I could take back! I'm thinking of voting the straight Democratic ticket just to help make him a "lame duck" and I am a right wing conservative!!!

Times, "The compromise legislation....authorizes the president to seize American citizens as enemy combatants, even if they have never left the United States. And once thrown into military prison, they cannot expect a trial by their peers or any other of the normal protections of the Bill of Rights."
The New York Times stated that the legislation introduced, "A dangerously broad definition of “illegal enemy combatant” in the bill could subject legal residents of the United States, as well as foreign citizens living in their own countries, to summary arrest and indefinite detention with no hope of appeal. a) What the hell does this have to do with George W. Bush, the current United States of America, 9/11, Jews, Muslims, or anything at all?
b) It was Croatoan, not "Croatian." The Croatoan were a nearby native american tribe that was friendly towards the colonists. Croatia wasn't even a country until 1991, and anyway, it's inhabited by "Croats," not "Croatians." There is evidence that the settlers abandoned their colony and ran off to join the tribe in order to survive.

what makes you think i wont get their see im in 8th grade and i just got all report card on friday and here ar my grades: s.s=96 ,sc=86 ,math=95 ,L.A=92, chorus x-class=100,chorus 96 , P.E=100
now explain what on here will not let me go to colledge.When i go to 9th grade i will ahve ap s.s which is a colledge corse class which means i get credits for colledge.Then next year i will ahve all ap.Also, that 86 in science is becuase i numbered my paper wrong on one of the test.
and im not even trying my hardest to get those grade like i dont realy study.

You dont have to come out and explicitly say that. What we are trying to say is, you have good grades. Thats a good thing, but you flaunt them and are trying to prove yourself to us. You think you know what you are talking about? You say you know how to get in and out of MIT? That is a complete lie, period.
You have nothing to prove to us, we are happy you have good grades, we most likely dont care. All we are trying to say is, be a little more humble, a little less proud and dont assume you know everything about college and life. Most of us have been there and are trying to help you.

Getting good grades in grade school doesn't mean you're smart. Your words and actions on these forums is already a good indication of this. How well you do in grade school really has absolutely no effect on how successful you will be in the future except maybe as a springboard for getting into a good high school, which in turn can help you get into a good college.
Getting into a good college, or into MIT even, is not about how well you did in PE during 8th grade. Colleges don't even look at your grades from freshman year of high school, let alone your marks from 8th grade. Getting into a good college is also not just about whether you can get good grades without trying. Especially for places like MIT, good grades is just a way to do a first-pass filtering of applicants. The real decision comes from the kind of person you really are, of which one aspect is whether you're actually intelligent and open-minded enough to see both sides of an issue when you're having a discussion about a controversial topic.
And the fact is, you shouldn't believe everything you get in your emails. Except for the Viagra ads.

I went skiing once when I was 5 or 6. For some reason, thinking of the lodge we stayed in reminds me of that motel where Sara Connor and Kyle Reese made pipebombs in the hit movie The Terminator.

Well, I've got 2 college degrees and nearly 25 years on Shady. I can tell you right now that he may still get into college even though he cannot spell at the moment and tends to get his homonyms mixed up. He said he's only in 8th grade right now, so he has some time to fix those problems before he graduates high school. I agree with what has been said so far though. A college degree is no guarantee of a great job. Timing, choosing a good major and so on make a great deal of difference. My advice, Shady, is to avoid becoming a music major in college like the plague! Knowing one's secondary dominants might be impressive to single women, but not necessarily to human resources.

no altron you got it backwards, i can TYPE i just cant SPELL  still cant... i just learned to use simlper words(or google the ones i cant spell)
also look to stick up for the kid, you dont need to spell to get good grades in college, take me ----------i started rambling and changed the topic-----------------
(BTW LIFE UPDATE HERE!!!) im bout to grad. college i got a 3.23gpa(soon to be higher kuz im aceing 3 of my 4 clases) and i got a great job and i work 40-70 hours a week(+18 credit hours at college) i make 8.50/hr and i know to most yall thats shitty but around here its 5.15 or nothing, 5.35 is making GOOD money no joke... they got apt.'s here for 150$ a month (and there nice) anyways 8.50 and OT is 12.75/hr ++ (with OT weeks) they pay for my gas for the week, buy us TONS of food and we get these bingo bucks(basicly if you win at bingo they give u 100$. oh yeah + every 3 months i get a 500$ bonus..... oh yeah thisa job has NOTHING to do with my major lol actually i doubt i could find a job around my area for an it major...
oh and about this kid, just kuz your in 8th grade dont mean you gotta act like this, grow up... you know what helped me? weed...

My cousin (who only has 1 week remaining as a bachelor) has terrible handwriting, but he can spell and type fairly well. He used to get teased by my family all the time that he "pre-qualified" for med school because his writing was such a mess. Nobody laughed though when he graduated as valedictorian of his college class. And yes, he did go to medical school and he now has a house in California that nearly tripled in its value shortly after he bought it and a "California girl" for a bride!
I am typing this sentence for the sake of having a second paragraph even though the earlier line about having at least 2 was aimed at someone else.
Also, if Shady were to use Firefox 2 as his default browser maybe it would help him in learning to spell by underlining all the words it doesn't recognize and he'd learn to use the backspace key.
