ok look a dumb question right? well here it goes, my buddy gimme 2 sticks of 256mb pc133 ram and well ill be damned if it says single or double anywhere.. no sd no dd nothing... anyways it occurred to me no ram ive messed with ever said it, i only knew kuz it either came out the comp i was playing with or it was ordered...

anyways how i tell the difference(for future reference too kuz this is a good question)

SDRAM has two notches on the bottom and DDR RAM has one. Also, PC133 is always SDRAM. DDR and DDR2 have four-digit speed designations (PCxxxx) while SDRAM only has two or three digits.

That is simple. If you really want to be sure, count the pins. SD RAM has 168, DDR has 184, and DDR2 has 240. In laptop RAM, SD RAM is 144 pin, and DDR/DDR2 is 200 pin.

In SD RAM, the "PC" refers to the speed (MHz), and in DDR/DDR2, it refers to the bandwidth (GB/s).

Yeah, I know you probably don't need this now, but I thought I would just throw it out there.
