Configuring a router..
(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I’m using a Siemens SpeedStream 6520 router. I need to configure it for file sharing but I can’t find any information about configuring it among the info that came with it. Is it something I can do somewhere in my computer?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,

Well, I'd recommend checking this out: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/foru...cfm/447641.html... Manual is here: http://www.squack.net/SpeedStream6500.pdf
Tha manual states that you should go to http://speedstream to configure via your web browser. I think you get the gist. Cheers

im pretty sure this is how you do it.You go to start run "cmd" then the black screen comes up , their you type "ipconfig" in and it will give you some ips. Then i think you either copy the gateway ip or the normal ip into the adress bar on internet explorer. Then it will take you to your router configuration thing.

Thanks shadysoldier.

did it work?

Yes, thanks. It worked fine. Now I have to figure out what to do now that I'm in there where I can configure it. It's all pretty well Greek to me. Thanks again.

I dont know the Speedstream personally, I always had a Westell, but the first thing you need is what ports and protocols you need to let through. What file sharing are you trying to do?
Once we get those you have a few options. You could do IP passthrough and pretty much take away all of your security or just do Port Forwarding and send those specific ports through to your computer.
But like I said, first, what are you trying to share?

Enable DHCP and set it to broadcast the SSID. Then you have to share a drive over the network in Windows so that others on the network can see.
