Connecting Firewire Drive to USB

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

I bought one of those L.A. Porsche Lacie Firewire drives. I originally purchased it to install OSX on it, and subsequently boot Mac OSX (Macs can only boot from Firewire, so I had to get that). However, I no longer have need for that. What I want to do is connect the drive to an old computer that crawls with Windows XP.

The problem is that I don't know how to connect the firewire drive to a USB port. Installing a Firewire PCI card is not an acceptable option because there is no space. I have a tiny little adapter that has Firewire male on one side, and USB male on the other side. I tried using this, but it doesn't work for some reason. Windows XP says it is an unidentified USB device. I know the drive works fine under XP since my other computer has Firewire and it works OK.

Any ideas?

See if the company has a driver on the web site to let it work right in your system.
