ok after that bsod i formatted my comp and it worked fine but for some reason my comp restarts and it passes the raid part then it goes to the system check sreen the black page and it checks everything then it says windows cannot boot plz insert disc.So the solution to the problemw as wait about 30 mins then turn my comp on and it works.I also found out that this problem only happens wen my comp getd about 32.4oC.I never minded this problem cause it was winter time cold out side, had my windows open so the cold air from out side made my comp nice and cold, but today it was like 52oF out side and i had my windows open and i get home froms school turn on my comp and turn on WoW and play for like 10 mins and my comp restarts.I asked one of my smart freind wat is causing this problem and he said windows xp home is gay and he gave me his pro disc and box and cd key for free cause he had the full verison on vista now and i was to lazy to install it cause i wasn't sure if it would formatt my stuff. So i was wondering wat is causing this problem and how can i make it go away.

How is installing a different OS going to help a heat problem?
It sounds like it may be possible the drive is near failure if it has lost its heat tolerance. Backup your data and then run somekind of disk maintenence utility on it like Spinrite.
Posted by: shadysoldier
what does "then run somekind of disk maintenence utility on it like Spinrite" do?
Posted by: goranpaa
Spinrite is a tool like Windows XP own CHKDSK. But more effective. Spinrite costs money.
But what you can do, is to download a hd diagnostics tool from the hd manufacturers home.
That will at least tell you if your hd(s) are going bad?
Posted by: goranpaa
Here is a file recovery tool that is good and free, if you need one?
http://www.softwarepatch.com/software/filerecovery.html
Posted by: Ion Silverbolt
Spinrite scans for and either repairs bad sectors, or marks them so nothing critical gets written to the bad sector(s). It is possible some of these sectors are bordeline unusable and when the HD gets warm enough, they become unreadable. I'm not sure of a free program that does the same thing as SR, but I can look into it.
Really it sounds like your HD just might be close to dying. Or perhaps the controller chip on the HD. Sometimes components lose their heat tolerance just before dying for good.

It sounds very much like your hard drive is dying. My parents had the same problem a couple years ago and since the PC in question was a Pentium S based system they replaced the whole computer instead of just the hard drive. If your PC is relatively new - say less than 5 years old - I'd suggest replacing JUST the hard drive instead of getting a whole 'nother rig!

k ill get a new hdd =(

in that case anyone got any ideas on cheap hdds since i need a new one. Also , i turned iot ona few ,mins ago and true vector got an error and i cant use the net.

wen it over heats the black screen says unable to boot disk and some times wen it crashes a blue screen comes up and says comrupted data your comp must shut down before it causes hardware dmg if this si ur first time just reboot.Dont know if thats any help.

Run "memcheck" also. It sounds like the faults I was getting and it turned out to be a bad stick of RAM. It can't hurt.
Posted by: goranpaa
Sounds like a good idea.

Let it run for at least 30 minutes. Preferably more.
Cheap SATA hd:

One tip. Stay away from Maxtor hdds.

I'd try www.newegg.com or www.tigerdirect.com if it turns out that you need either a hard drive or replacement memory.

k two problems for my comp 2 run for 30 mins it needs to run at cool temps and true vetor shut down so i cant get on the net on that comp.

Posted by: shadysoldier
hmmm i was thinking maybe windows won't let me log on the net caus ei dont ahve a firewall. So, i stick on one of my inported discs that hhas a bunc h of programs on it and on the menu screen has musik playing, but wne i stick it in i get an error message sayin:[FMOD could't intialize windos multimedia nor sound devic.mmBuilder will run with out sound support..Windows multimedia: error intializing output device.DirectSound:error initalizing output device.].This made me think could it be my mobo dieing? Also, my mobo made a clciking sound all the time even when it was off.Or could it be my hard drive got messed up and some driver files got messed up.Also, another thing i noticed that i didn't realy mind i would hit shut down and it would some times restart instead of shut down.

i think i ahve the worst luck in the world on top of my comp being broke and im paying for wow wen i cnat evem ply it and my tv just broke
Posted by: goranpaa
I think your main problem is the hd. You should really consider getting a new one.
Western Digital and Seagate are nice brands.

k wen my bro and friend pay me abck imma order it.=( its gay i can order and pay later
Posted by: shadysoldier
k....i was tryign to formatt my comp to see if i cna cna just use it wen it is cold otu side, but when i was formatting in the middle i got an error wen my com reached 5.2oC.
A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer: partmgr.sys
If this problem continues, disable or remove any newly installed hardeer or software. Disable bios memory option such as caching or shadowing ti remove software go into safemode.
Then some crap like if this is first time reboot ur comp and stuff.

uh.. If you can make it thru a fresh install I think your net problem will be solved. A lot of times Zonealarm has caused problems (that's the True Vector Service) and had to be removed to regain internet access. I could suggest that you reinstall and uninstall again - or maybe that you even check out utilities like LSPFix and WinsockFix to regain your internet access. It does seem like there is a hardware issue at the root of things - most likely your hard drive. Do you have a hard disk cooler? Can you keep your HD detached next to a fan and get thru an install? Process of elimination man - which brings me to another troubleshooting tip. Unplug everything but basic video/cd/hard disk to do the windows xp install in case one of your peripherals are causing problems.
Posted by: shadysoldier
what you mean by cd?cooleing device?
Posted by: goranpaa
He means the CD or DVD drive.
This is a hd cooler:

Posted by: shadysoldier
so should i get a hdd cooler or a ner hdd.And he said u only need a cd and hdd and a cideo card, what about the mobo and the ran and psu dont u need those also to install windows?
Posted by: goranpaa
Get the HDD cooler. And if that does'nt work? Then try POnix suggestion about #Unplug everything but basic video/cd/hard disk to do the windows xp install in case one of your peripherals are causing problems.#
Last resort. Get a new hdd.
And even if the hd cooler maybe does'nt solve the problem ( the hdd damaged)? It can't be a bad thing, to have additional cooling for the new hdd anyway.
Posted by: P0nix
I was actually advising that you put the hard disk next to the biggest fan you have in the house and see if you can make it thru an install. That would indicate that a HD cooler would help in the event that your hd is running too hot. If it doesn't help, just make sure all the things are out of your pci slots and that you just have your cpu/mobo/memory hooked to just the HD and just one CD drive to do the windows xp repair. The repair would be the easiest fix rather than trying to reinstall your winsock. If that still doesn't work then a new HD is most likely in order and you can tell if you use the diagnostic software that seagate/maxor/western digital offer for download from their respective websites when you boot off the cd it will tell you if the hd is bad or not.

k imma dothat tomarow hopefully it works.i knwo this sint the smartest idea i ahve a medium case with big parts to i shoved all the cords int he hdd drive by cause i didnt want them to get cause in the fans lol.

Posted by: goranpaa
Are you seriously considering getting a used hd? You never know what this guy may have done to it.
The chanse is big, you may end up back at square one again.
You often get what you pay for. Especially at E Bay.
Posted by: shadysoldier
ok i put the hdd pn the fan and it been working good so i think i will get a fan for my hdd and use it till it has no more life wich will be like 2 months
