Game performance

hi..
i need to know what causes the game performance differences.
i play Fifa '07 and so is my friend.
my computer:
ATI RADEON 9250
1.25GB Memory
i checked my friend's computer:
Geforce 4
256MB Memory
on the one hand, on my computer, playing on low details + 600x800 resolution still lags.
but on the other hand, my friend play smoothly on medium details + 600x800. and gets great quality with no lags. but when put on high, it shows black screens on the cut scenes.
i'm sure 1.25GB is better than 256MB
and i think RADEON 9250 is better that Geforce 4. right?
what do you think?
why is his comp better?

The 9250 should be a little bit better and differs from the GF 4 cuz that the Radeon 9250 got direct X9.0 support.
This lag? Is it stuttering cut scenes you mean? Or is it the overall game?
Here is a fix for the game anyway.
quote#
Go to your FIFA 07 installation folder + the "Data" folder and then the"cmn" folder.
Open the corresponding file cfg_pc ini file for the setting you picked inside the game for quality setting, using word pad. And change the cfg_pc_h.ini file for ex. if you have a choosed the setting for a high end pc. Or cfg_pc_m if you picked mid range pc and the cfg_pc l if you picked the low setting.
Start, by change the rendering from "7" to"2". in the Render_Rate_mode column. This will keep the frame rate at a steady 60 fps. Despite what quality settings you picked.
Change the value = 1 in the columns below to = 0
IGNORE_DOF_DISABLE = 0
IGNORE_POSTFX_DISABLE = 0
DISABLE_POSTFX = 0
You find these columns further down in the cfg_pc_ file you choosed to open .
Dont forget to save the changes before you close wordpad!#
Hope this will help you get rid of the stuttering?

thx.
i managed to do that. and did what you said, and changed the files.
after i did that, i could play on high quality without lagging (while playing). but after some hours, it just returned to the way it used to be and worse... lags on low quality.
now i put back the original values in the files and i can manage to play on low just like before.
