I have a dvd burner in my laptop, TSSTcorp CD/DVDW TS-L532U, and it reads DVD's, but it won't read CD's and it doesn't burn anymore. I would think that if it were a problem with the laser, it wouldn't read the dvd's either. Anyone else ever come across this?

Hi!
You can try to run a registry cleaner / repair software. Or / and update the firmware for the dvd combo.
Also running a lens cleaning cd may be worth a try.

One word of advice about lens cleaners: make damn sure the bristles on the bottom of the disc are very soft. When they first came out the bristles were pretty stiff on those and I remember using it once on a drive and it killed the drive.
Has anything changed recently on your computer? Like installing any new software (especially burning software).

What OS are you using and what burning software?

Burning software can do a number on your drives. Try reinstalling that. Sounds like the drive is failing. A good way to see if its the drive or your software is to try booting off of a cd. That's a black and white test, literally!
