problems with my DVD burner

hi
yesterday i was burning a DVD. it stopped in the middle with an error.
then i went to My Computer, and it wasnt there.
i tried disconnecting it from the computer and connecting it back but it didnt work.
what should i do?

First thing I would do is make sure the jumper on the back of the drive is set properly. Is your DVD drive connected to the same cable as your hard drive? Then it should be set as a slave drive. If it is on its own cable without any other drives connected to it, it should be set as master. Did you try using another cable for the connection? Did you remember to plug the power back in on it? For that matter, did you try plugging it into another molex plug from the power supply? Sometimes they go bad too.
