sharing a printer w/ vista

hello. my computer in my basement is a HP (about 5 years old) w/ windows XP and has the printer hooked up to it. the printer is enabled for sharing, and i was able to print things off from it with my laptop upstairs when i had XP installed on it. however now that i have vista on it, i cannot share the printer. i get an access not allowed error. i installed the drivers, and ive messed w/ the firewall and still cant get it to work. any ideas?

You say you messed with the firewall, but did you turn it off? If not try that. If you can gain access then the firewall needs configuring. Turn the firewall off on both machines, not just the one.
