Ok I have a MO-Bo that can handle up to 1 GB of memory 2 sticks of 512Mb , Now I am told though that win98 can only handle up to 512 Mb of memory . my question is this: Will I be able to ad another with out any problems?

Yes, there may be problems. And Windows 98 may not "see" the other 512mb stick. Just as if you install more than 3 gig of RAM in XP.

This, because the way Microsoft wrote all versions of Windows 98, the most RAM Win98 or Win98SE can handle without triggering crashes and BSOD's is 384 to 512 MB of RAM.

there is an update to win98, which may or may not be available from MS, that will allow usage of 1g.

You need to change the amount of RAM that vcache uses. Have a look at this artical, it should help:http://answers.google.com/answers/threadview?id=333688
