Hosting Stuff On Own Computer

I have one of my computers running as a spare tower (my old machine). I use it for when I have friends over and we play games on the LAN. Anyways, I also use it to host a Vent Server for my WoW guild. And my IP changes every now and then. Not too often, but enough to make it a pain. I was wondering what services out there would allow me to change it to an actual address that'll relay the connection back to me. This way I just update some info on a remote server, so that it points back to me. I would prefer it to be free, or as low-budget as possible.
EDIT: I found no-ip.com. Seems like an excellent site and is exactly what I was looking for. So that this topic isn't a complete waste.... what distro of Linux would make a good and simple server? I'm not looking to do anything extravagant. Just host some files for myself as remote access, and use to experiment with PHP. I don't know PHP yet, and I've never come across a free PHP host. So why not host it myself? Haha. I plan on teaching myself a bunch of other code too, but PHP comes next.

Well as far as a simple distro goes I recently found that ubuntu server is very, very, very simple to setup. It's even simpler/faster that setting up a microsoft server. Basically it's very simple to setup just a couple of thing to edit and restart and you're done. So take a look at that.

I didn't know there was an Ubuntu server version. I'm familiar with Ubuntu, so I'll probably check out the server version then. Thanks!
