whenever i attempt to start up oblivion, my laptop just make a lot of noise, as if it was going to start the game, then just stops without loading the game. ive re-installed it twice with the same results. Its a Compaq Presario V6254 with vista premium installed. I also have the same problem with battlefield 2. is this a vista problem, or a graphics problem. Any help would be much appreciated. thanks

Your biggest problem is that it's a laptop and has a shared memory graphics card. Your second problem is that it's running Vista. But make sure you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer's websites. The Intel GMA950 won't be able to run those two games very well, if at all.

Laptops aren't the greatest for playing games. Updating your drivers might help. And installing OLDblivion might help run Oblivion better.

ok thanks. if it doesnt work ill stick to morrowind, which actually works

I like Morrowind more in some respects. It's definitely not quite as beautiful, but it seems more in-depth and has more room for true character development.

yeah, morrowind is still a good game. i never actually completed it, so im gonna do it now.
