Cannot Run D2 (No Video Modes Found) Help!

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Posted by: yOuNgGuNnA272

A few years back I used to play Diablo 2. Since then, I have installed a new video card and have a newer version of Direct X. The video card is a Radeon 7500, but for some reason it does not show up on the device manager( maybe this has something to do with it?). When I recently reinstalled D2, I failed the video test. Then when I tried to play the game I got the message:

"Error 22: A critical error has occurred while initializing DirectDraw."

I figured I should try to download the latest drivers, but when I tried to download the ATI Catalyst drivers, it didn't work...

here is what comes up when I run dxdiag:

Maybe my card isn't compatible with the DirectX version?Idk..

Someone please help..ty

Ok, the card now shows up on the device manager and I successfully downloaded the corresponding Omega Drivers, but when I run dxdiag it still says that the system is using the generic video driver...

Hi!

I dont hink your card is supported by the latest Catalyst drivers.

Download this driver instead:

And also this driver cleaner:

http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=745

Uninstall the present driver in control panel / add remove programs.

Then, open the driver cleaner. Enable the "multiple filter".

Add following to the filter: All ATI stuff.

Run the cleaner and reboot.

Install the new driver.

Update the directX at Microsoft home.

Your card is very old. You should consider getting a newer Radeon card, that supports the new shaders and stuff. Your gaming will be much more fun. And you will be amazed how good Diablo will look for ex.

This is a more modern, good and nice priced Radeon agp card:
