XP Recovery Partition?

(Click here to view the original thread with full colors/images)

Hi eveyone,

Recently it has occured to me that there must be a way to create a recovery partition for Windows XP like you can do with Vista. However, after searching around on google for hours, I havent found much other than a load of jargon about the XP Recovery Console.

Is it possible to do this? Ideally I would like to include the several key programs I use in the recovery to save from reinstalling them each time, and being that I regularly reformat my PC, it would be much more handy than having to keep phoning up Microsoft to reactivate it.

Many thanks.

Sharky.

Hi again guys,

I did manage to find an article on this subject in the end, so if anyone else is interested, the link is:

Let me know what you think and if this is the easiest way, or just another way to sell uneeded software.

Thanks again.

For the record, this really isn't a substitute for off-site or off-PC backups, especially if the partition is on the same hard drive as your data and programs. If the drive goes south, you are out of luck

Ghost and Partition Magic are industry standard tech tools. Definitely necessary software. A better solution is to setup Raid 1 with two sata drives. Then you don't need the software, just a board/card that supports Raid.
