Using Laptop as wireless for desktop

Can some1 help me out? I have a desktop that I do not want to run a network cable to. I do have a spare laptop with xp and wireless. My desktop is running xp as well. How do I use the wireless from my laptop and hook it to the desktop? Is this possible with a short network cable?
