Wow it seems like I have one problem after another all in a row. Ok. Can anyone tell me what would be the cause of this start up problem? My comp boots up nice and quick or so it would seem. ok everything shows up. All of the items on the taskbar and desktop icons and so on and so on just like they should. Well I go to click on something such as Firefox and it starts up or so it would seem. Firefox will then sit there for a min and then say not responding. well if I leave it alone in about 5-10 minutes all not responding messages go away and everything works fine until I reboot again. The only think I have enabled under "msconfig" startup tab is my wireless program. I have tried turning that off and it did not change anything. Any ideas. I have run Zonealarm's anti virus and anti spyware and that has also not changed anything.

Sounds like malware to me. I'd suggest running at least one other anti-spyware program like AdAware 2008 free version or Avast AntiSpyware, or even both.
How long has it been since you defragged?

Well ill give your suggested programs a try and see what happens. Id say about 2 months since the last defrag. Ill try that too since its time anyways.

Ok well I ran avast and adware and they found several things and took care of them but nothing has changed. Ran a defrag with the windows defrager and nothing has change from that either. Any other ideas?

Ok wow everything is great now. It appears that zone alarm was causing this problem with its true vector thing. so i got rid of zone alarm. I think I always thought that the all in one deal would work better but now im using avast pro, ad-adware, and comodo firewall. everything is great. thanks
