The GF 9600GT is out as said. According to reviews, it performs on par with the Radeon 3870. And costs as much as the cheapest 3870 cards. Could be a card for those who wants a cheaper 8800GT alternative.

OMG IT IS FINALLY HERE IT SO BEAUTIFUL
imma wait or the 9900 or the 8900 =D
idk what it is i just love graphics cards

Yeah, but take your time and read the reviews first, before running off and buy any of the upcoming cards. It could show, that a 8800GTX for ex. is just as good choise. The latest stuff, is'nt nesissairily the greatest.

And besides, the 9600GT is still quite much faster than the 7900GTX you have.

Given that this thing is priced around $180 right now and is roughly twice the power of my 7600GT, it'd be a very nice upgrade for me. However, the 8800GT is still better and only around $20 - $40 for the 512 MB version. And even though the ATI cards came down in price, I'm not so sure they're worth it since a lot of games nowadays get optimized for Nvidia cards.

hey what's the difference between a pci-e 2.0 x16 and a regular pci-e x16 ? Would the pci-e 2.0 fit in any pci-e x16 mobo? Because I'm planning to upgrade my video card and I don't know If the 2.0 will fit my mobo...

A card that is PCI-E 2.0 compliant will work in a PCI-E 1.0 board and PCI-E 1.0 cards work in 2.0 boards. The only real difference between PCI-E 1.0 and 2.0 is that 2.0 doubles the bandwidth of the slot and the power given to the card (I think). However, most cards don't utilize the full bandwidth of even 1.0 and you can still power cards with external PCI-E 6/8-pin connectors from your Power Supply.

Just be aware of the fact that the 8800GS, 8800GT, 8800GTS 512mb and the latest Radeons are incompatible with motherboards that have VIA chipsets onboard! And I would'nt be surpriced if the 9600GT and such mobos have the same problem.

So download "Everest Home" and look under "motherboard" + "chipset" + "northbridge chipset" and check out what chipset your motherboard have, before you buy any of those video cards.
