Russian Programmer To Be Released

Reuters has news on Russian programmer Dmitry Sklyarov. Looks like all charges are going to be dropped, but at a cost:

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - The United States agreed on Thursday to free Russian software programmer Dmitry Sklyarov in exchange for testimony against his company about alleged violations of U.S. copyright law, his defense team said.

Sklyarov, who has been at the center of a widely publicized case involving free speech rights in cyberspace, will be able to return to Russia once the government has completed deposing him, spokeswoman Judy Trummer said.


A worthy trade off? I suppose he doesn't have much choice. Read on here.
