Seems like it's the same everywhere. Switching ISP's should *not* require long waits, should *not* require service cut-off's and reconnections, and should *NOT* cost any more then a minimal service fee of $5 or less.... PERIOD... oh and one more thing, ILEC's or others should not be allowed to use a TOS to force you to marry the ISP they choose and penalize you with major fees if you want out. Or refuse service) If the companies won't honor the consumer's wishes voluntarily, then they should be forced to by legislation.
A growing number of consumers and Internet service providers complain that MSN — Microsoft's Web company — is throwing up roadblocks for former Qwest high-speed Internet customers who want to quit MSN.
"It makes me feel like they're saying 'We're going to teach you a lesson' for wanting to quit them," said Larry Lomax of Des Moines, a former Qwest digital-subscriber-line (DSL) customer who switched to MSN and then decided he wanted to move to another provider.

Is there any indication if Microsoft is going to intergrate this DSL servince in with their ultimate tv package? A while ago when I was looking into DSL, I came accross ultimate TV. And part of the attraction to ultimate tv was that they will be intergrating DSL in with it's service. Just wondering. This recent ploy by microsoft is definitely a monopolistic move. They need to break them up the same way they did At&t. I say make one section the OS part, and all of it's tools. I say make another that has to do with game/software development. And lastly the last part is other. And only the first part Bill can have anything to do with. I mean we have these anti trust laws to protect consumers for a reason... and the supreme court backed down(probably with fat pockets) from punishing microsoft over their unfair business practices. We might have one of the best judicial systems in the world... but its #1 for being screwed up.

Remember when circuit city, best buy and all those other electronics stores were offering that $400 rebate if you signed up for 3 years of MSN internet? I wonder how many of those people are kicking themselves now...

I got a letter in the mail from Qwest a couple weeks ago telling about the "merger" or whatever, but they were unclear on which services are going to be affected by it.
